Tank Sandblasting & Coating

Project Overview

Arabian Pearl Engineering completed a major surface treatment project for a fleet of oil storage tanks. The project involved abrasive sandblasting to Sa 2.5 standard followed by the application of a multi-coat high-performance epoxy coating system.

Work was performed on both internal and external surfaces of the tanks. Given the hazardous nature of the stored materials, the internal lining required specialized glass-flake reinforced epoxy for maximum chemical resistance. All work was monitored by NACE-certified inspectors.

Scope of Work

• Abrasive blasting to SSPC-SP10 / NACE No. 2 (Near-White Blast).
• Surface profile measurement and chloride testing.
• Application of Zinc-rich primer coat.
• Multi-pass application of High-Build Epoxy intermediate and topcoats.
• Holiday testing (spark testing) on internal linings to ensure 100% coverage.
• Environmental control (dehumidification) during application.
